When I taught theology and writing to college and graduate students, I used pencil to mark their papers. To me, it seemed like aggression to write all over their work in red the way some of my professors had done. Nevertheless, things needed to be changed. There’s no point in getting all those editors and beta readers if you’re not going to listen to what they say and make changes. You won’t buy everything they say, of course, but they’ll help you make your work better if you’ll give careful consideration to what they say and change as necessary.
